‘Happened in Summer’ begins shooting in Xiangxi

Jun Mon 2024
The first cultural and tourism micro-drama “Happened in Summer” showcasing the intangible cultural heritage of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture began its shooting at the Aizhai Bridge in Xiangxi Prefecture on the morning of June 21.

The drama tells the story of a Miao girl born in Xiangxi. She experiences love and friendship with the inheritors of “Miao medicine” and “Miao embroidery” when she learns the intangible cultural heritage “drum dance”. She devotes herself to ICH inheritance and rural revitalization.

The micro-drama will be filmed in Xiangxi, showcasing the beautiful natural scenery of Xiangxi to audience through cameras and creating a new trend of “following micro-dramas to visit Xiangxi”, in a bid to promote the integrated development of micro-dramas and cultural tourism.

In January of this year, the National Radio and Television Administration released the creative plan “Travel with Micro-dramas”, proposing to create 100 excellent themed micro-dramas in 2024. It pointed out that micro-dramas should be created based on intangible cultural heritage such as folk literature, traditional music, traditional dances, traditional dramas, quyi, traditional sports and acrobatics, traditional art, traditional skills, traditional medicine, and folk customs, to showcase new tourist attractions, scenes, and stories.

Xiangxi has a long history and rich intangible cultural heritage. It’s an ideal place for filming themed micro-dramas to promote its cultural and tourism resources.

“Happened in Summer” has explored the cultural resources in the intangible cultural heritage of Xiangxi Prefecture, and completed the script creation on the basis of local customs and traditions to integrate culture and tourism, help economic development, and deepen cultural experience.
